Call the Midwife is one of the UK's most popular shows. Now in its eleventh season, the good news for fans is that it has already been renewed for seasons 12 and 13.
The BBC hit is set in Poplar, East London, and features some seriously iconic British actors – although it can be hard to recognise them under their veils. One big name who stared in the first four series before just seeming to disappear from the show was Miranda Hart.
Hart, best known for her iconic show Miranda, played Chummy Browne in the BBC drama from 2012 to 2015. However, she left the show as her character went to work in another mother and baby unit show very suddenly with fans left asking why.

Eventually it was revealed by creator and writer Heidi Thomas that Hart left due to conflicting schedules. Thomas did reveal that if Hart ever wanted to return they'd be more than happy to have her.
She said: "The creative team at Call the Midwife remain extremely close to Miranda, and hugely value the contribution Chummy made to the first four series of the show. Sadly, the timing wasn't right for her to return in 2016, but the door is always open. We would welcome her with open arms should she ever be free and want to come back to Nonnatus House."
Even before Call The Midwife, Hart kept the nation entertained with her self-titled sitcom where she played a clumsy shop owner. The sitcom ran from 2009 to 2015 and slingshot the comedian into becoming a household name.
After she left Call The Midwife and Miranda came to an end, Hart was off to Hollywood where she played Miss Bates in the 2020 Jane Austen adaption film Emma, starring alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Bill Nighy. She also played Nancy in the 2015 Spy alongside Melissa McCarthy.
Maybe we'll see Hart make a return to Nonnatus House, although she's already had a long and distinguished career having won tree Royal television Society awards and four BAFTA nominations.
