Independence day is considered a big day for a movie release, just like other festivals. Makers consider this national holiday as the best day to release their flicks in order to garner more at the ticket windows.
The audience too comes in big numbers to celebrate independence day. In the past 15 Aug releases movies like Singham Returns, Ek Tha Tiger, Rustom, Chak! De India etc earned big at the box office and went on to become commercially successful films.
This year too, many big-ticket flicks will be gracing the silver screens, it’ll be interesting which among them becomes a profitable venture for the makers. The Track records of Aug-15th release films suggest that the movies that are based on patriotism stand a good chance to become successful.

Aamir Khan’s long-awaited and delayed film Laal Singh Chaddha will finally hit the theatres during Independence week this year. The film has been released on 11 Aug 2022, stars Aamir Khan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the main lead roles. It recently stirred controversy, when netizens called for a boycott of Laal Singh Chaddha.

The year has not been great for Khiladi Kumar, his two releases Bachchan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj went on to become disasters at the BO. He is yet to see success at the box office, this year. All eyes will be on his upcoming film Raksha Bandhan, it’ll be interesting to see whether the comedy-drama will end a dry spell for Akki or not.

Actor Sidharth starrer Karthikeya 2 stirred much anticipation among the viewers through its grand theatrical trailer. It is scheduled to release on Aug 13 in all five languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. It is a sequel to 2014 critically and commercially successful film Karthikeya, the sequel stars Sidharth returning as Doctor Karthikeya, it also has Anupama Parmeshwaran and Anupam Kher in the key roles. The storyline revolves around the truth of Lord Krishna.
Kaithi fame actor Karthi will soon be seen in his much-hyped action entertainer Viruman, scheduled to release this independence week on Aug 12. The trailer of the film was well received by the viewers they praised the comedy sequences, exhilarating action scenes, and Karthi’s performance in the 2:32 min trailer. It is being predicted that the film could emerge as a top grosser of Karthi’s career.
Thiruchitrambalam is the upcoming Tamil film of the national awardee actor Dhanush,it also stars Raashi Khanna, Nithya Menen, Bharthiraja and Prakash Raj in the pivotal roles. It is a musical comedy-drama directed by Mithran Jawahar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures. The trailer of the film was recently unveiled along with the release date of Aug 18.
The sci fi film stars Taapsee Pannu in the main lead, she will be again teaming up with Anurag Kashyap after Manmarziyaan. Taapsee was recently seen in biographical sports film Shabhaash Mithu which had been rejected by the audience on the first day itself. Do Baara becomes crucial for her, releasing on 19 Aug 2022.
The Gujarati film recently made the headlines when it was first reported that the Big-B will join the cast of the movie. Fakt Mahilao Maate will be released in theatres during independence week (19 Aug), and as per the reports, Amitabh Bachchan will be doing an extended cameo role in the film.
Netflix film Day Shift is a vampire action comedy film that will arrive on the platform on Aug 12, 2022. It stars Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Brodizzo, and Meagan Good. Made on a high budget of 100 million dollars (in Indian Rupees 798 crores approx)
Superhit 2022 Taml film DON will have its world television premiere on 15 Aug 2022 at 8 PM in Hindi on Colors Cineplex. It is a blend of humor, emotions, romance, and social message.

Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR will be gracing your Tv screens this independence day. It was released on the big screens in March 2022, it took a flying start at the box office and went on to become the highest opening day grosser Indian film of all time at the box office. It will be premiered at Zee Cinema on 14th August 2022 at 8 PM in Hindi.
Harshvardhan Kapoor and Fatima Sana Shaikh led “Thar” was highly praised by the critics and the audience, the film was directly released on the OTT platform Netflix. If reports are to be believed, Thar will see its world Tv premiere during the independence day week on 20 Aug 2022 on Star Gold. It is a neo-western action film that was highly praised for the direction, cinematography and the performance of the father-son duo (Anil Kapoor- Harshvardhan) by the critics.
South star Vishnu Vishal starrer FIR is the commercially and critically successful Tamil film of the year. Vishnu along with portraying the main lead also bankrolled the film with Shubhra and Aryan Ramesh under Vishnu’s production house VV Studioz. It will be premiered on Colors Cineplex on 11 Aug 2022.
Babloo Bachelor stars Sharman Joshi in the titular role, it was released in 2021, Along with Sharman, it stars Pooja Chopra, Tejashri Pradhan and Rajesh Sharma in the pivotal roles. It is backed by Ajay Rajwani under the banner Rafat films. It will see its premiere on Star Gold on 25 Aug 2022.
The sports film Kaun Pravin Tambe will reportedly have its world TV premiere on 21 Aug 2022 on Star Gold channel. It is the story of a cricketer who made his debut at the age 41.
South superstar Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati starrer Bheemla Nayak will be premiered on Zee Cinema this independence week, reportedly. The film was released earlier this year and saw a thunderous opening at the box office.
